2022 International Workshop on the Neural and Social Bases of Creative Movement
This international interdisciplinary workshop focuses on the theme of Creative Movements and the Brain. The goal of the workshop is to facilitate a dialogue between science and dance and instigate totally new ideas and ways of thinking that would act as a catalyst for new research directions and creative approaches that would have been difficult to conceive of otherwise. The workshop will address this topic from the twin perspectives of the artist and the scientist. Participants thus will include dancers, choreographers, neuroscientists, neurologists, roboticists, engineers, kinesiologists, dance therapists, and students from those disciplines.
The workshop will be semi-open, and 9am to 5pm daily. Restricted to about 350 attendees. Workshop sessions on Days 1-3 (April 7-9, 2022) will be by invited speakers and registered guests. The 4th day (Sunday April 10, 2022) features LiveWire: A Dance Performance in conversation with Music and Neuroscience at Wolf Trap for conference attendees and the public. Reduced registration for students is available.
