IEEE Neuroethics Framework

Get Engaged

Current and emerging neurotechnologies are being considered and used for a range of applications in medicine, public life, and national security operations. Broad international efforts in neurotechnology create new opportunities, issues, and challenges to establishing precepts and guidelines to assure sound research and use-in-practice.

The IEEE Brain Neuroethics Subcommittee is leading an effort to develop guidelines to address ethical, legal, and social concerns for the research and use of neurotechnologies. Initial effort focuses on a Neuroethics Framework to define and categorize current and emerging neurotechnologies, and elucidate ethical, legal, and social issues generated by context-specific applications of these technologies.
