Neurotechnology is raising a new era of social awareness and human incorporation into daily life. The latest advances in neuroscience, electronic designs and artificial intelligence have directly impacted on the development and improvement of neurotechnologies, with the promises of improving and enhancing the human capabilities and quality of life. While the impact of the use and adoption of this technology on and for the society is expected to be transformative, it is also imperative to promote a safety use, to preserve human rights and ensure democratic access to it. In this white paper we share the view of Latin-American neurotechnology researchers, to foster the discussion on neuroethics aspects with the goal of promoting the advancement, development and adoption of neurotechnology in and for the region safety.

La neurotecnología está generando una nueva era de conciencia social e integración humana en la vida cotidiana. Los últimos avances en neurociencia, diseño electrónico e inteligencia artificial han impactado directamente en el desarrollo y la mejora de las neurotecnologías, con la promesa de mejorar las capacidades humanas y la calidad de vida. Si bien se espera que el impacto del uso y la adopción de esta tecnología en y para la sociedad sea transformador, también es imperativo promover su uso seguro, preservar los derechos humanos y garantizar el acceso democrático a la misma.
